Yin Yoga: A Gentle and Healing Practice Yin yoga is a passive and meditative practice that targets the connective tissues of the joints, especially the hips, pelvis, and spine.Unlike other forms of yoga, yin poses are held for 3 to 20 minutes, allowing the muscles to relax and the fascia to stretch, creating more flexibility and mobility Yin yoga also works on the energetic level, clearing blockages and balancing the flow of chi along the meridians, the pathways of life force in the body..Yin yoga is influenced by Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine, which view the body as a system of five energetic phases: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal.Yin yoga can benefit anyone who wants to reduce stress, calm the mind, and heal injuries or chronic conditions, as it promotes relaxation, awareness, and self-compassion.Acupuncture is a holistic treatment approach for the mind-body complex. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is best known for its ability to treat pain but has a wide range of applications, from stress management to digestive wellness and far more. It involves the insertion of very thin needles at strategic points on the body based on a personalised Chinese medical diagnosis in order to facilitate the free movement of Qi / life force and address issues of stagnation and discomfort. Anthony O Connor is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine practitioner and lecturer. He has studied acupuncture and tuina at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, China and obtained his MSc in Chinese Herbal Medicine from the University of Westminster. He runs clinics in Co. Kerry and Co. Clare with a particular focus on pain, digestion, women’s health and mental-emotional issues. He is a clinic supervisor and lecturer with the Northern College of Acupuncture and also releases educational content online under the name ‘Anthoneedles’, aimed at aiding public understanding of Chinese medicine. His focus is on being an advocate for his patients and seeing them on a measurable and sustainable path to long-term wellness.
